HOUSTON — Grant Legacy Group, the death-care and estate-services company founded by attorney and entrepreneur Lila Grant, hosted The Legacy Homecoming, a free, bilingual day of celebration and community support in Houston's historic Third Ward.

The event drew families from across the city for a procession through the neighborhood, a festival of Black-owned restaurants and local musicians, and free legal, health, and financial services—all open to the public with no ticket or purchase required.

"In 1872, freed men and women in this city bought the land that became Emancipation Park, so no one could ever take their place from them again," said Grant. "That is the oldest, truest thing I know about this work. My job is to make sure your children never have to buy that ground back."

Throughout the day, Grant Legacy attorneys offered free guidance—in English and Spanish—to residents beginning a will or directive, alongside a workshop on protecting homes and land across generations, free health screenings, financial-literacy sessions, and supervised childcare.

From the evening stage, Grant announced the Third Ward Legacy Fund, a permanent commitment to Houston that includes funeral aid for families who cannot afford a dignified goodbye, scholarships for local students pursuing law, business, or mortuary science, and the Homeowner Legacy Program—free legal help for longtime families working to keep homes and land at risk of being lost.

The Homecoming is part of Grant Legacy Group's growing national footprint, with flagship locations now open in cities across the country and community programming in each new market.

"A legacy is land you hold, a name you protect, and a family nobody can move off the ground they built," Grant said.
