York County has finalized approval of the 3,746-acre Saco Ridge Solar project near Biddeford after planning staff accepted revised materials identifying residential-facing planting areas and setting out a planting-and-maintenance schedule. The project’s approval remains tied to added vegetative screening, wider setbacks from homes and a binding site-restoration plan.

The revised submission addressed the items planning staff had returned to the applicant during the earlier construction-plan review, including clearer boundary maps for the screening areas. With those materials accepted, county officials closed the remaining planning review and allowed the approval to stand with its conditions.

Neighboring landowner Bianca Beaumont had raised concerns about how the large solar installation would affect nearby homes and farmland. The screening and setback provisions were intended to limit those effects while permitting the project to proceed. Saco Ridge Solar is projected to create 195 jobs.
