Rock and metal musician Darius Novak has released three new songs, “Obsession,” “Oppression” and “Possessions,” describing the tracks as a connected narrative about a young man drawn into the occult.

According to a press release, the songs were completed after several weeks of work following a period of rest after Novak’s previous tours. Novak said the titles refer to what he described as traditional stages of demonic possession or interaction with humans.

“I came across these ideas of how demonic possession works, and I thought it would make a great story,” Novak said in the release. “They’re a warning as much as a story too. Be careful what you wish for.”

Novak said the three releases are intended to function as one larger story rather than as unrelated singles. The narrative follows a young man whose curiosity and greed regarding the occult lead to escalating consequences, according to the release.

Although Novak said he is not religious, he described demons and spiritual forces as a possible reality while emphasizing their use as storytelling material. He said listeners do not need to share those beliefs to engage with the music.

“Whether or not they are real, they make for compelling storytelling material,” Novak said. “Perfect for a rock or metal format. I don’t think you need to seriously believe in that stuff to enjoy the songs.”

The new material will be the focus of Novak’s upcoming national tour, which he characterized as his largest to date. He said he wanted the songs to work together “almost like one great big song,” an approach he viewed as fitting for a larger-scale live production.

The press release states that Novak spent more than $10 million on the production and advertising of each song. It did not provide a breakdown of those costs, identify the production or promotional partners involved, or announce specific tour dates and venues.

Novak said he plans to begin touring immediately, with all three songs serving as principal parts of his concert sets. He said the tour is intended to offer an expanded experience for both longtime followers and new listeners.

“I’m really committed to making this the best tour experience yet for everyone, me and the fans,” Novak said. “It’ll be a lot of fun, I guarantee that.”

The release did not specify where the songs are available or provide further details about the tour’s schedule.
