MEDFORD, Wis. — The owner of the Mighty Muskie, the towering fiberglass fish beside Wisconsin Highway 64, announced expansion plans for the 34-year-old roadside attraction after visitor traffic increased 60%. The project calls for a covered photo pavilion, a room displaying the landmark's construction history and a picnic area.
Simone Castellano, a tourism board representative, said the increase in visitors had turned the longtime highway stop into a broader draw for people traveling through the area. Caretaker Isaiah Suzuki said the planned additions are intended to give visitors places to gather, take photographs and learn how the oversized fish became a Medford landmark.
