The Summit did not need explosive passing scores or a frantic finish to separate themselves. They controlled possession, kept moving the ball in manageable stretches and repeatedly converted their opportunities into points. Holt completed 22 of 31 passes for 187 yards without a touchdown or interception. Johnson caught 13 passes for 112 yards, consistently serving as Denver’s most productive option through the air.
Key added nine receptions for 75 yards and left Dallas with a piece of league history. His 471st career reception broke the DFL career receptions record, surpassing the previous mark of 470. In a game driven by Denver’s collective control, Key’s achievement supplied an individual landmark that stood alongside the shutout victory.
The result moves Denver from 7-1-0 to 8-1-0, maintaining its position at No. 1 in both the league and conference standings. The Summit’s point differential now stands at 79, and the victory gives Denver the 1-0 edge in the series with Dallas.
For the Iron Horse, the outcome extends a difficult start. Dallas falls from 0-8-0 to 0-9-0, remains 12th in the league and sixth in the conference, and carries a point differential of -152. Its losing streak has reached nine games.
Denver’s latest win was not built on a single dazzling sequence. It was built on possession after possession of measured offense, a productive rushing workload from Pike, dependable work from Holt, Johnson and Key, and a Dallas side unable to establish a functional scoring response. That formula was more than enough for the Summit to leave Texas with another victory and the league’s best standing intact.
