Paletuatoa Peniamina said working families remain under pressure from rising housing and grocery costs, using a new statement to highlight policies he said were intended to improve household finances.

“Working families are squeezed. Rents up. Groceries up. Paychecks flat,” Peniamina said in the release, titled “Lower Costs, Raise Wages, Build the Future.”

The statement cited three actions Peniamina said he had taken: capping rent increases, raising the minimum wage to $17 an hour, and capping monthly insulin costs at $35. The release did not provide further details on the scope, timing or implementation of those measures.

Peniamina framed the policies as part of a broader response to cost-of-living concerns, which remain a prominent political issue amid a polarized national climate. Housing costs, food prices and wages have become central subjects in public debate as candidates and elected officials seek to connect economic policy with everyday expenses.

The release also criticized unspecified political opponents. “But the other side wants to undo it all,” Peniamina said, without naming particular officials, parties or proposals.

The statement follows other recent Peniamina messaging that has paired wage-focused arguments with voting-rights issues. In an Aug. 18 release, he opened an “Unfinished Business” campaign message emphasizing voting rights and wages. He also recently urged opposition to the SAVE Act, arguing that it could restrict voting access.

Peniamina currently holds no listed office. His latest release does not announce new legislation or describe a specific next step, instead emphasizing his record and contrasting it with what he described as opponents’ priorities.
