StormBowl said its Aug. 29 Fuel the Future: Back-to-School Community Day in Philadelphia served more than 400 area residents and families, working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia and other participating community organizations.

According to a company press release, the event distributed all 250 committed back-to-school kits. Of those kits, 174 went to families and young people referred through youth organizations, while 76 were provided to walk-up families during the event.

StormBowl also reported fulfilling its commitment of 300 meals through a mix of meals served or distributed on site and vouchers for later use. The company said 238 meals were served or distributed during Community Day, while 62 meal vouchers were issued for redemption at participating Philadelphia-area StormBowl locations.

The release said 14 local businesses and nonprofit organizations participated in the event. It did not identify the participating groups beyond the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia.

StormBowl said it will track voucher use through Sept. 28 and plans to report the final number of redeemed vouchers in its next Fuel the Future update. The company did not provide a value for the supplies, meals or vouchers distributed.

The community event was held as families prepared for the start of the school year. StormBowl characterized the program as part of its Fuel the Future community initiative.
