The reigning DFL champion Denver Summit used consecutive selections in the Season 7 Draft to add wide receiver Caleb Turner at No. 12 and defensive back Tyler Hanley at No. 13, the club announced.
Turner, 20, comes to Denver from Belleville, Illinois, and previously played in St. Clair County, according to the team’s release. The Summit described him as a receiver with reliable hands who is willing to contribute on kick coverage and other special-teams assignments.
The release said Turner’s route to the DFL included limited varsity opportunities, a junior college roster spot and a camp invitation. Denver characterized him as a practical, team-oriented addition as the franchise begins its defense of the Season 6 championship.
Hanley, 22, is a defensive back from Spokane, Washington. The Summit said he initially went undrafted before earning a roster invitation through an open tryout. The team credited his special-teams work and low-error approach in coverage as factors in the opportunity.
Denver described Hanley as a depth player with room for development, emphasizing his willingness to compete for a role on a play-by-play basis. The announcement did not specify either player’s expected place on the active roster or projected responsibilities beyond the positions and special-teams roles cited by the club.
Owner Lila Grant said the selections reflect the roster-building approach Denver believes helped it reach a championship.
“We did not build this team on big names. We built it on people who show up and do the work,” Grant said in the release. “Caleb and Tyler both fought their way here, and that is exactly the kind of player who belongs on this mountain.”
The two picks join a Summit team entering Season 7 as the defending DFL champion. Denver’s announcement presented both Turner and Hanley as players whose paths to the league fit the organization’s emphasis on effort, versatility and special-teams contributions.
The DFL is the professional football league in the simulation, with the Summit now beginning a new season following their title-winning campaign.
