Gridiron Standard Power Rankings Analysis
Denver Summit sets the pace as the standings tighten, and it is doing so with the clearest all-around profile in the DFL. The Summit sit atop the National Conference at 10-3, carrying a +106 scoring margin that is not merely the league’s best but a decisive marker of how consistently Denver has separated itself. A two-game winning streak reinforces the point: Denver has held its place in the rankings because its record, point differential and current form all support the same conclusion.
That does not make the National Conference comfortable. Delta Blues own the same 10-3 record and arrive on a four-game winning streak, the strongest active run among the conference leaders. Delta’s +31 margin is far less imposing than Denver’s, which is why the Summit remain the more convincing power-ranking choice even with identical records. But Delta’s sustained winning run gives the conference race a live challenger. The Blues have not moved in the published rankings, yet staying put near the top while extending a streak is meaningful momentum, not stagnation.
Louisville Colonels are the hottest team in the upper tier. Their five-game winning streak is the league’s longest, and their 9-3-1 record keeps them directly in the National Conference conversation behind Denver and Delta. The Colonels’ +48 scoring margin is strong, though it falls short of Denver’s commanding standard. Still, Louisville has built the kind of late-season profile that power rankings should reward: a winning record, a positive scoring gap and a sustained upward push. The standings position remains third in the conference, but the form is that of a team no contender should discount.
Washington Senators lead the Commonwealth Conference at 9-3-1 and remain a firm top-tier team. Their +76 scoring margin trails only Denver, and a two-game winning streak has kept Washington in control of its own standard. The Senators have scored 224 points while allowing 148, an efficient balance that makes their conference lead more credible than a record alone would. In pure power terms, Washington belongs alongside the National Conference leaders even if Denver’s differential still establishes the league benchmark.
The Commonwealth’s most revealing team may be Charlotte Monarchs. At 6-6-1, Charlotte is only at the break-even mark in the standings, yet its +60 scoring margin is better than Delta’s and Louisville’s. The Monarchs have scored 245 points, second only to Denver’s 256, while allowing 185. That creates the clearest case of a record understating a team’s broader performance. Charlotte is not in the standings tier of Washington, but its scoring profile argues that it is more dangerous than a .500 record suggests.
Behind Charlotte, the Commonwealth is crowded and unstable. Richmond Capitols and Charleston Admirals share 5-6-2 records and enter the final week on ties. Richmond holds the higher conference place with a +11 margin, while Charleston’s -9 differential reflects a thinner margin for error. Charleston did gain one spot in the league movement, with Tampa Bay Storm dropping one after a loss. Tampa Bay’s 5-7-1 record and -7 differential leave it close enough to the middle pack to remain relevant, but its current direction is less favorable than Charleston’s rise.
San Antonio Coyotes and Atlanta Fire are both 5-8, yet their recent trends separate them. San Antonio has lost two straight and owns a -22 margin. Atlanta has lost three straight and carries a -49 margin, making the Fire the shakier of the two despite the matching record. Miami Beach Breakers, also on a two-game skid, sit at 4-7-2 with a -30 margin and need a stronger closing statement than their current form provides.
Dallas Iron Horse remain at 0-13 with no points scored and a -215 margin. There is no ranking movement there, only a stark reminder of the distance between the league’s competitive center and its bottom.
The final week will settle the standings picture, but the power-ranking case is already sharp: Denver has the strongest body of work, Delta and Louisville bring the most pressing National Conference momentum, Washington is a legitimate conference leader, and Charlotte is the team whose record least captures its underlying strength.
