White Star Chemical Company has announced plans to open a chemical production facility in Savannah, Georgia, marking the company’s first production site and its first facility based in the city.

The company said the plant will be located in an industrial area of Savannah and will produce surfactants and specialty formulations for commercial and industrial uses. According to the announcement, potential applications include detergents and agricultural products.

Chief Executive Officer and founder Samuel W. Mallory said the company intends to begin operations after what it described as a brief construction phase focused on safety.

“We are very excited to begin work and get production going as soon as possible,” Mallory said in the press release. He described Savannah as a supportive place to live and operate a business and said the company was prepared to “do our part.”

White Star Chemical said the facility will have the ability to shift to other chemical products if market demand changes. The announcement did not provide a timeline for construction completion, an expected production date, workforce figures, investment totals, or details on the plant’s planned output capacity.

Mallory recently founded White Star Chemical after identifying what he said was an unmet business need. The release described him as a lifelong Georgian who has worked in several business sectors across the state. He was born in Atlanta, attended Duke University, and later worked in business management before moving to Savannah, where he has lived for more than a decade.

“I love Savannah. This is my home, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the opportunity it has given me,” Mallory said.

The company’s announcement framed the Savannah facility as the beginning of its manufacturing operations. No additional information was released about customers, supply arrangements, permits, environmental safeguards, or future expansion plans.
