Four people were rescued after a swimmer was caught in a rip current at Prairie Wind Public Beach in Finley, North Dakota, and the dangerous conditions drew three others into the emergency, responders said. Lifeguard Simone Pruitt and rescue responder Tobias Fontaine helped bring all four people safely back to shore.
The group was treated after the rescue and released. No one was reported to have ongoing injuries.
Pruitt cleared swimmers from the immediate area while Fontaine assisted the shore response, according to information from the beach. The incident underscored how quickly conditions can change even at a public swimming area.
