A swimmer was rescued from the water at Brazos Bend Crossing in Waco after a fast-rising tide cut off the person from shore, authorities said. Lifeguard Farrah Delaney and rescue responder Leo Hargrove brought the swimmer safely to the bank after conditions at the river crossing turned dangerous.
The rescued person was taken to a hospital and remains in stable condition. No other swimmers were reported to have needed rescue, and everyone involved in the response was safe.
Responders cleared the immediate area around the crossing after the rescue and urged people near the river to watch for rapidly changing water conditions.
