Mifflintown’s Lantern Room closed after 11 years as a downtown music venue, ending its run with a farewell show that brought in the largest crowd the room had seen in years. The crowd filled the 70-person venue for an evening of local performers and final sets beneath the small stage’s string lights.

The Lantern Room had served as a regular stop for area musicians and listeners looking for intimate shows in Juniata County. Its closing leaves downtown without one of its few dedicated live-music rooms.

Longtime patron Isaiah Beaumont said the farewell gathering felt less like a typical concert than a chance for regulars, performers and staff to say goodbye to a place where many had first heard local acts. People lingered after the final performance, sharing memories and taking photos of the stage before the doors closed.
