Orleans County has declined to reopen its rejection of the proposed Cypress Bend Solar Farm near New Orleans, leaving the 3,939-acre project rejected after the developer requested a revised drainage review and changes to field access. The project had been projected to create 119 jobs.

The county’s decision ends the developer’s effort to revisit the proposal without a new hearing. Paloma Hargrove, representing the developer, had sought another review focused on drainage and access concerns.

Neighboring landowners, including Rosalind Fontaine, had gathered drainage records and photographs from heavy rains while maintaining that the proposal could affect adjoining properties and remove farmland. County officials left the original rejection in effect, and no new hearing is scheduled.
