The developer behind the rejected Cypress Bend Solar Farm has submitted a written request for Orleans County officials to consider a revised drainage review for the proposed 3,939-acre project near New Orleans, Louisiana. Paloma Hargrove, the developer’s representative, said the request asks the county to examine runoff controls and field-access changes before deciding whether to place a revised proposal on a future agenda.

The county’s rejection ended the initial bid for the solar farm, which the developer had said would create 119 jobs. Opponents had raised concerns about drainage, loss of farmland and effects on adjoining properties.

Rosalind Fontaine, a neighboring landowner, said nearby residents are collecting property-drainage records and photographs from prior heavy-rain events to submit if the county takes up the request. She said a new review should include direct notice to landowners whose fields or access roads could be affected. County officials have not scheduled a new hearing on the project.
