  • (Verse 1)
Woke up in New York City, felt the hustle and the buzz,
With a guitar case and a plan, we're off to see what we can.
From the Statue of Liberty's sight, to the neon lights at night,
We're riding on the open road, with our freedom in tow.

    (Chorus)
Oh, we're living on the highway, with the wind in our hair,
Crossing state lines, leaving worries far behind.
From the East to the West, we're America's guest,
Partying in every city, what a way to live, yeah!

    (Verse 2)
Next stop Chicago, hit the blues, feel the soul,
In the Windy City, where the music takes control.
Dancing by the Willis Tower, under stars by Lake Michigan's power,
We're on a journey, a melody, from sea to shining sea.

    (Chorus)
Oh, we're living on the highway, with the wind in our hair,
Crossing state lines, leaving worries far behind.
From the East to the West, we're America's guest,
Partying in every city, what a way to live, yeah!

    (Bridge)
Saw the Grand Canyon at dawn, felt the Vegas night go on,
Nashville's honky-tonks, where the steel guitar talks.
Out in San Francisco, we rode the twists and turns,
From the deserts of Arizona, to the Everglades of Florida.

    (Verse 3)
New Orleans jazz, let the good times roll,
Mardi Gras beads, we're dancing soul to soul.
Up to Seattle, where the grunge still roars,
Down in Austin, where the music pours.

    (Chorus)
Oh, we're living on the highway, with the wind in our hair,
Crossing state lines, leaving worries far behind.
From the East to the West, we're America's guest,
Partying in every city, what a way to live, yeah!

    (Outro)
From the mountains high, to the beaches where we lie,
Every town's our playground, in this big American sky.
So here's to the road ahead, to the places we've not tread,
With a rock 'n' roll in our hearts, we're never gonna stop, we're never gonna stop.

    (Ending Chorus)
Living on the highway, with the wind in our hair,
Crossing state lines, leaving worries far behind.
From the East to the West, we're America's guest,
Partying in every city, what a way to live, yeah!

I actually really liked the riff after the first line of the first verse, gave me Radar Love vibes. Obviously that wasn't where I thought the song was going after that. Probably just a geographic nitpick for me, I don't love that verse 2 goes from Chicago to the bridge going to Grand Canyon then Vegas, and back to NOLA for verse 3. Strongest part is the chorus in my opinion, which is always a good thing. Not my favorite song of his, but still a good middle of the setlist song I'd say.

This is a fun, energetic rock song with a great beat that makes you feel like you're cruising down the open road. The guitar and drums really drive the song, and the vocals fit well with the laid-back, carefree vibe. The lyrics talk about living life on your own terms, which works perfectly with the upbeat music. Overall, it’s an easy, enjoyable listen if you’re into classic rock sounds.
