President Signs Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Equity Act

Washington, DC – President Kyle Van Horn spoke at a signing ceremony in the Oval Office for the Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Equity Act, sponsored by Sen. Vini Vinachelli (R-NJ) and Sen. Chandler Williams (D-OR). 

“I am proud to sign the Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Equity Act. This bill enhances FEMA’s disaster preparedness capabilities, ensures equitable access to disaster aid, improves critical infrastructure resilience, and addresses workforce challenges to strengthen the agency’s effectiveness and efficiency. Recently, our country has been tested by severe and unprecedented weather events, including Winter Storm Aria and the devastating tornado in Tennessee last year. These events took many lives and caused billions of dollars in damages. The Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Equity Act applies the lessons learned from those disasters and ensures that our nation will be more prepared than ever before for anything that comes our way. I thank Senators Vinachelli and Williams for their leadership on this issue.”
