President Pardons Snowden

Washington, DC – President Kyle Van Horn announced the pardon of Edward Snowden. 

“Today I issued a pardon for Edward Snowden. His actions informed the public of classified surveillance programs being conducted by the government. In 2020, a federal court ruled that one of the mass surveillance programs exposed by Snowden was illegal and possibly unconstitutional. If it wasn’t for Snowden, we never would have found about it. He is currently living in exile in Russia to avoid charges in the United States. I think it’s long past time to forgive him and allow him to return to the United States, if he wishes. I believe his actions ultimately did more good than harm. He is a Patriot who did what he thought was necessary to preserve our constitutional rights.”
