    Matthew "Matt" Delaney is a retired Navy Captain and decorated veteran who has spent over two decades serving his country. Born and raised in Newport County, Rhode Island, Matt grew up near the coast, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean and a sense of responsibility to serve others. Following his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Political Science, Matt embarked on a military career that took him around the globe, earning commendations for his leadership during both peacetime and conflict.

    After retiring from active duty, Matt returned to Rhode Island with his wife and two children, settling in Newport. He quickly became a strong advocate for veterans' rights, founding a nonprofit organization that provides resources for transitioning service members. Matt also worked as a defense consultant, advising on national security and infrastructure projects, which broadened his understanding of the intersection between public service and policy.

    Matt’s Senate campaign focuses on strengthening national security, improving infrastructure, and expanding services for veterans. His disciplined leadership style and ability to inspire confidence make him a respected figure among his peers and the broader Rhode Island community. Though driven and determined, Matt privately struggles with his fear of losing control, which stems from the high-stakes nature of his military career. This vulnerability, however, fuels his resolve to bring stable and effective governance to Washington.
